Although it is highly unusual for a hotel to use hand-made carpets throughout, Andy Rifkin and Reza Nouranian wished to create an environment that felt relaxed yet refined. Dressing the entire hotel in custom hand-tufted and hand-knotted rugs addressed this aesthetic desire.

Upon entering the reception area, a hand-tufted all-wool rug with a custom hand-carved linear design anchors the seating area.

On the second floor, another hand-tufted rug, crafted by designer Fernando Santangelo, playfully coordinates with the color palette of the fabrics, materials, and wall paint in the Private Dining Room.

The hand-tufted carpets in the corridors are lined with a whimsical vine design on each floor, which leads to 9 Orchard's charmingly original rooms.

The suites were all dressed in hand-knotted area rugs woven with naturally variegated Himalayan wool.
